about

“There is no greater solitude than that of the samurai unless it is that of the tiger in the jungle... Perhaps...”
(Jean-Pierre Melville)

I read from the ending of Maxim Gorky's book "In the World"
(the second in his autobiographical trilogy).

These books depict Gorky as a child, discovering the cold, brutal
and lonely world he encountered and from which he felt completely alienated. As a young boy, he always found the forest a magical, holy place, a chance to be away from it all. He writes bitterly about the alienation of humans, and his desire to isolate himself from the world.

I found that this short section offered a glimpse of optimism.
